Suzanne Wymberry

Compliance, Respiratory Operations & R&D

Hello. My name is Suzanne and I’m Senior Manager Compliance with Teva Pharmaceutical Ireland at its site in Waterford, and I started here in 2000.

The site at Waterford was established in 1985 and now over 30 years later, the site is operating as one of the key Teva manufacturing and R&D sites. That is testament to the skills and hard work of everyone who has worked here over a long period of time.

In a nutshell, I’m responsible for ensuring the inhalation and research and development business units at this site operate in accordance with all regulatory, corporate and company requirements.

Within my role, I’m also responsible for supplier quality, and that can often be the busy part of my job – meeting the suppliers and investigating any issues.

I’m also responsible for the customer complaints that come back from the market, making sure they are investigated. It means my role is very varied and no day is the same.

Certainly, the diverse nature of my work is one of the reasons I like working here so much – I’m continuously challenged and given different opportunities. Since starting here, I’ve worked in Quality Control, Quality Assurance and now I’m in Compliance. I’m proud of the different opportunities I’ve been given and taken on. I feel like I’ve worked across all the spectrums of Quality, and I’m happy about that.

Like any job, there can be challenges. And when those challenges sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, it’s definitely the people here who help to get you through. I’ve worked with so many different people and bosses over the years, but it’s always been a very positive working environment and everyone has a ‘can-do’ attitude. That starts at the top with the senior management team and filters down across the site. There’s a great sense of teamwork, and whenever there are tough times, the people here always rise to the challenge.

My personal motto is to do my best. I like to do my job to the best of my ability every day. You need to be adaptable, flexible and motivated to work here, and you definitely have to be able to work at a fast pace!

Obviously, I’m proud of the fact we’re making products that benefit patients with respiratory challenges. I know we are making a difference to patient health. But I’m also proud that the business is very influential locally. It supports lots of local events, and the facility also provides support to local schools and colleges. Young pupils come in for tours of the site and for many years Teva supported the Junior Achievement programme, which saw colleagues from different parts of the business visit schools to talk to students. We also have a lot of students coming here to do placements. This year, I’ve had six or seven young people on placement within my team, so I feel we’re making a difference in lots of other ways too.
